About DomusCalc

What it is, how it works and where its limits are.

What it is

DomusCalc is a set of 48 free calculators for three very ordinary parts of running a home: renovating, cooking and cooling. No sign-up, no accounts, nothing to install.

How the maths happens

Everything runs in your browser in JavaScript. When you type 13 into the room length, that number never leaves your device. There is no server receiving it, because there does not need to be: these are sums your phone handles without breaking a sweat.

Where the data comes from

Unit conversions use exact international definitions (an inch is 25.4 mm by definition, not by approximation). Ingredient weights come from a cited baking reference listed in the ingredient table. Commercial coverage figures for paint, mortar or plaster vary between manufacturers, so common values are used, they are editable, and we say so.

Limits, stated plainly

  • The building calculators are for ordering material, not for structural design.
  • The air conditioner calculator is a guideline estimate, not a professional heat-load calculation.
  • Kitchen equivalences depend on how you fill the measure: weighing is always better.

How it is funded

DomusCalc carries no advertising at the moment. There are no ads, no space set aside for them and no request to any ad server. There are no recommended products and no affiliate links either.

The project may be funded by advertising later on. If that happens, three things will not change: ads will always be labelled and kept apart from the content, they will never touch a calculation or a result, and the privacy and cookie pages will be updated before anything goes live, along with whatever consent is required.
